Biography:
Krishantha Fredricks is a Ph.D. candidate and a graduate teaching assistant in anthropology at the University of Texas-Austin. He is also a senior lecturer at the Department of Sinhala at the University of Colombo. Some of his academic interests include language, religion and media, Sinhala language and linguistics, Sri Lankan Buddhism and English to Sinhala translations. He completed his MA in Linguistics from California State University at Long Beach. He authored an article on Reclaiming Ravana in Sri Lanka: Ravana’s Sinhala Buddhist Apotheosis and Tamil Responses with Pathmanesan Sanmugeswaran and Justin W. Henry. He also participated as a Fulbright Scholar. He will be presenting his paper on Guardians of Law: Buddhist Legal Activism in Post-War Sri Lanka at the 2021 Buddhism and Constitutional Law workshop.
